From THE LANCASTER NEWS, LANCASTER, S.C. Monday, September 27, 1954. Last Rites held Friday Afternoon for C. H. Lowery. Charlie Hubert Lowery 47, of the Pleasant Hill community, died Thursday morning at his home after a month’s illness. He was born in Lancaster County, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Luther* Lowery. Funeral services were conducted at 4 o’clock Friday afternoon from the Fork Hill Baptist Church by the Rev. W. L. Blanton, the Rev. Roy Neal and the Rev. Cecil Chandler. Burial was in the church cemetery. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Nettie Hammond Phillips Lowery; two sons, Wilson and Jarvis Lowery; three daughters, Mrs. Kathleen Ellis and the Misses Mae and Martha Lynn Lowery all of Lancaster county; four step-sons, J. C. Phillips of Lancaster, Edgar Phillips of Conover, N. C., Charlie Phillips of Summerfield, N. C. and Melvin Phillips of the United States Navy stationed in Bermuda, and one sister, Mrs. Vada Deese of Heath Springs. * I have seen the name Luther, Lewis and Willie for Charlie’s father.
